About the team

The team behind the articles.

Top Pro Roofing SD is a San Diego roofing referral service. We connect homeowners across San Diego County with vetted local roofers. Our editorial team researches every article we publish and reflects field patterns reported by the roofers in our network.

We are not a roofing contractor. We don't climb roofs, run crews, or pull permits. What we do is research the questions San Diego homeowners are asking, talk to the licensed roofers we refer leads to, and write honest answers in plain language. Then we connect you with a vetted local roofer when you're ready for a quote.

What the editorial team does

Every article on the Top Pro Roofing SD site is researched and edited by our team. We read the building code, pull pricing from real 2026 quotes in the local network, cross-reference manufacturer specs, and review the patterns the roofers we work with see on real jobs across San Diego County. We don't publish anything we couldn't defend to a roofer at 7am.

When an article describes how a flashing detail fails, how a tile lift-and-relay is priced, or which neighborhoods have the most stringent HOA rules, that information comes from real fieldwork inside our network and from public sources like the California Building Code, the CSLB, and the Insurance Institute for Business and Home Safety. We attribute observations to the network, not to ourselves, because that's the honest framing.

How we vet the roofers in our network

Every roofer we refer leads to has to clear four checks before they get a single homeowner introduction:

  • CSLB license, active and in-scope. Verified against the California State License Board public lookup. C-39 is the classification for roofing work in California. If the license is expired, suspended, or doesn't include C-39, the roofer doesn't get referrals.
  • General liability and workers' comp insurance. Current certificates on file, with coverage limits sized to residential and light commercial work. If a roofer can't produce a current COI on request, they're paused until they can.
  • Recent verifiable reviews. A pattern of recent five-star reviews on Google, Yelp, and Angi from real homeowners in San Diego County, not a thin profile or a wall of suspiciously identical praise. We read the reviews. So should you.
  • Specialty match. We don't refer a flat-roof job to a shingle specialist or a tile lift-and-relay to a crew that has never touched clay. Roofers in the network are scoped to the work they do well. The right person gets the job, not just the closest person.

What this means for you

When you ask Top Pro Roofing SD to connect you with a roofer for a quote, the introduction goes to a roofer whose license, insurance, reviews, and specialty all match the job you described. We do that work upfront so you don't have to.

We do not perform roofing work. We do not collect a markup on the job. The roofer you hire is the licensed local contractor who actually does the work, and your contract is with them, not with us. The Top Pro Roofing SD role is to make the match clean and to keep the bad actors out of your inbox.

Verify any roofer yourself

Whoever you hire, verify their license before signing a contract. Use the CSLB license check tool to confirm the license number is active, in C-39 scope, and not under any pending disciplinary action. Ask for a current certificate of insurance issued in your name as additional insured for the project. These two steps stop most of the predictable problems before they start.
